LAKE COUNTY — A one-vehicle crash on April 14 near Madison killed a 66-year-old man from Nunda.
The incident happened on 451st Avenue and Pelican Point Road, 3 miles southwest of Madison, according to an April 22 news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. It was reported at 2:33 p.m.
Authorities are not releasing his name, pending notification of family members.
Per the release, preliminary crash information indicated that a 2010 Lincoln MKX was traveling westbound across 451st Avenue from Pelican Point Road when the vehicle left the roadway and went into a grass field, where it collided with a tree stump, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
