Several Brookings-area athletes excel at high school state track meet

SIOUX FALLS — Several area athletes fared well at ehe South Dakota state track meet held Thursday through Saturday in Sioux Falls.

Hadlee Holt of Iroquois/Lake Preston was named the Class B girls MVP. She is the state champion in the shot put.

Brookings

In the 3,200 meter, Bobcat Kaylie Kuehl placed seventh with a time of 11:04.37. She also took eighth in the 1,600 meter at 5:10.16

The BHS relay team of Kennedy Ronning, Hadley Devine, Kalla Foerster and Keuhl took fifth place in the sprint medley with a time of 4:13.77. The BHS 4×400 meter team of Foerster, Ella Miller, Keuhl and Devine took seventh place at 4:09 10

In the shot put BHS’ Kendis Sackreiter took third with a throw of 38-11.75. She also took second in the discus at 122-05

Ronning took third in the pole vault of 11-9.

Ronning took eighth in the 100-meter dash at 12,42.

For the BHS boys the relay team of Dylan Haar, Marco Springman, Jackson Bastemeyer and Shane Harming place fifth in the 4×800 relay with a time 8:16.58.

Bobcat javelin throwers did well. Mason Mathis placed fifth at 166-06 Bergan Tetzlaff took sixth place with a throw of 165-4 and Alex Wainman took eighth with 160-3.

Elkton-Lake Benton

Elks’ pole vaulter Eliot Erickson took seventh place clearing 12-9.

A time of 11.35 was good enough for a seventh-place finish for Elkton’s Colt Beck.

ELB’s Ivy Jaacks took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15:30.

Taiton Boersma placed sixth in the shot put at 50-05.75. Boersma placed second in the discus at 167-00.

Elks’ high jumper finished in a tie for seventh, clearing the 6-00 mark.

Flandreau

The Fliers’s Faith Wiese took second place with at time of 10:54.77 in the 100-meter run. And she took fourth in the 1,600 meter race at 5:05.60. Wiese took second in the 3,200-meter race at 10:54.77

The Flandreau girls’ team of Kiley Westberry, Ella Hoffman, Rhegan Sheppard and Wiese placed second in the sprint medley with a time of 4:10.49.

Sheppard took sixth in the triple jump at 34-10.25.

Flandreau pole vaulter Jake Hamilton placed sixth, clearing 12-9

Sioux Valley

The sprint medley team of Mitchell Guthmiller, Hunter Steinhaus, Brady Hiltunen and Carson Wosje captured the state championship with a time of 3:32.07.

In the 4×400. the team of Hiltunen, Guthmiller, Steinhaus and Wosje took second at 3:26.02

Wosje took third in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:56.40.

Hiltunen captured fourth in the 400-meter race with a time of 50.44.

On the girls’ side, Sioux Valley’s Asia Ward took sixth place in the 400-meter race with at time of 1:00.52.

Cossack discus thrower Summer Guthmiller placed fourth at 123-7 and Porshia VanderWal took 10th at 108-07. For Sioux Valley, javelin thrower Amari Ward placed fifth at 114-5.

In the boys’ 800-meter race Carson Wosje placed third with a time of 1:56.50.

Cossack Braden Danzeison took ninth place in the triple jump at 41-5.75.

Sioux Valley’s Emma Gorvin cleared 5-02 in the high jump to take fourth.

Deubrook

The Deubrook boys relay team of Josh Mitchell, Luke Jorenby, Charlie Olsen and Josh Moberg took the state championship in the 4×800 relay with a time of 8:21.66

Deubrook’s Kylee Johnson took sixth place at 2:19.49 in the 800 meter.

Dolphin Nora Olsen took second in the 3,200-meter race with at time of 11:31.t4 Olsen Aldo managed second in the 1,600-meter at 5:19.37

The Deubrook team of Neely Gustad, Kylee Johnson, Kaylee Brown and Olsen took second in the 4×800 with a time of 9:48.89.

The Dolphin team of Presley Quail, Gustad, Kylee Johnson and Nora Olsen took sixth in the sprint medley with a time of 4:20.85.

Kylee Johnson took fifth in the 400 meter race with a time of 1:00.11

Deubrook’s discus thrower Kiana Schmit took fifth place at 112-10. She also two second in the shot put with a toss of 40-04.25

For the Deubrook boys, Josh Mitchell took ninth in the 800-meter racer at 2:01.78.

The Dolphins’ Charlie Olsen won eighth in the 1,600 meter race with a time of 4:37.29

Arlington

Cardinal pole vaulter Jake Burns took tied for fifth at 12-9.

Colman-Egan

Jolie Flatten of Colman-Egan is the state champion in the 400-meter race with a time of 57.40

The C-Hawk relay team of Hayden Pearson, Landen McManus, Milano Lee and Rowdy Bowen took seventh in the 4×100 relay at 44.80. The team of Pearson, Bowen, Lee and Zachary Peterson took sixth in the 4×200 relay at 1:33.64.

On the girls’ side the Colman-Egan relay team of Avery Baumberger, Finley Luze, Brynlee Landis and Crystal Silva-Dominguez finished a tenth of a second behind the winner with a time of 49.57 in the 4×100.

Baumberger, Silva-Dominguez, Jolie Flatten and Landis took second in the medley relay at 4;15.92.

Michoen Williamson placed fourth in the shot put at 36-08.25. And she placed 10th in the discus with a throw of 100-08.

In the javelin, C-E Hawk Quinn Meyer place fourth at 118-10.

Iroquois-Lake Preston

Bentley Holt place eighth in the shot put at 34.80.50.

Rexton Blue placed ninth in the discus 135-10.

ORR

For the Raiders, Brennon Bickett placed sixth in the discus at 140-05

Estelline-Hendricks

Emma Gilbertson place eighth in the javelin with a throw of 114-05.

Maggie Hausman cleared 9-01 to tie for sixth in the pole vault.
