Larry Lee Smith was born Nov. 2, 1949 in Sioux Falls to Boyce and Julie (Brown) Smith of Beresford SD. He entered into rest on April 23, 2026 at United Living Community Hospice in Brookings.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, SD on May 1, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.. A Private Family Burial will follow at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.
Larry grew up in Beresford, and in May of 1968 he graduated from Beresford High School, after which he attended college and spent thirteen years in the military. He married Tawna Hillestad. On Sept. 3, 1989, they had a son, Ben, who resides in Brookings.
Larry received his undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University. He remained in Brookings until his death.
He is survived by his son, Ben, sister Sandra (Larry) Franklin of Volga SD and brother Ron (Bunny), of Thonotosassa FL
He was preceded in death by his mother Julie, 2009 and his father, Boyce 2017.
