Flandreau 14U blows out Brookings Bombers Gray

FLANDREAU The Flandreau 14U team beat the Brookings Bombers Gray 13/14U team 17-2 in four innings on Tuesday night.

Flandreau scored in all four innings and held the Bombers off the scoreboard until the fourth inning.

Flandreau scored seven runs in the bottom of the first. Brody Johnson hit Jake Hamilton home with a single and then Trevor Peters scored on a Griffin Hemmer double to make it 2-0. Johnson and Hemmer then each scored on a Melvin Hernandez double to push the lead to 4-0. Hernandez scored on a Levi Williams single and Williams came home on a Emmerson Hinrichter single to make it 6-0. The final run of the inning came on a single from Hamilton.

Flandreau scored a run in the bottom of the second as Hernandez hit Hemmer home with a single. They then added six runs in the bottom of the third.

Brayson Gould scored on a Braedhen Kuhnel single and then Hinrichter hit a two-run double to make it 11-0. Peters hit an RBI double and Johnson hit an RBI single to stretch the lead to 13-0. Landon Preheim hit Johnson home for the final run of the inning.

Brookings got on the board in the top of the fourth. Landon Scharr hit Jay KC home with a single and then he scored on a Jess Johnson double to make it 14-2.

Flandreau ended the game with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Peters hit Hinrichter home with a double and then Hamilton scored on a Johnson single. Peters later scored to end the game due to the 15-run rule.

Flandreau had 19 hits in the win. Hernandez was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and Johnson was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Peters was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Hamilton was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Hemmer was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Preheim, Williams and Kuhnel were each 1-for-3 with an RBI. Hinrichter was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Gould was 1-for-2.

Brookings had three hits. Johnson and Schaar were each 1-for-2 with an RBI and Shinji Numata was 1-for-2.

Hamilton pitched three innings for Flandreau and gave up no runs and one hit with four strikeouts and no walks. Hernandez pitched the final inning and gave up two earned runs on two hits with no strikeouts and one walk.
