Church’s coffeehouse tips in May will go to Brookings Regional Humane Society

BROOKINGS — The Mission of the Month at the Mission Coffeehouse at First Lutheran Church for May is the Brookings Regional Humane Society.

The Brookings Regional Humane Society mission is to improve the lives of companion animals and support those who care for them. BRHS relies on fundraising, donations and dedicated volunteers to keep its doors open. BRHS accepts donations of bleach, food, paper towels, Brookings Hy-Vee receipts, postage stamps, money and other items.

BRHS recommends calling or e-mailing ahead for adoptions to ensure that the animal you’re interested in adopting is still available and at the shelter (adoptable dogs are often in foster homes).

BRHS is a limited-admission shelter. To surrender a pet, you must call or email in advance to schedule an appointment so the organization can ensure it has space and resources to provide proper care. Lobby hours are Monday-Friday from noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and it’s closed on Sunday.

BRHS is just north of the Brookings Airport at 120 W. 2nd St. S.

Find BRHS on Facebook, check out the website at www.brookingshumane.org, or call 605-697-PETS (7387) for more information.
