The Colman-Egan Hawks took on Elkton-Lake Benton and Iroquois/Lake Preston aimed for third place in the 281 Conference Tournament in Thursday nights area girls basketball action.
Colman-Egan 50, Elkton-Lake Benton 38
COLMAN The Hawks out-scored the Elks 14-5 in the second quarter on the way to pick up a 50-38 win over Elkton-Lake Benton on Thursday night.
C-E led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter before their run in the second quarter gave them a 26-13 lead at halftime. The Hawks led 41-26 at the end of the third quarter before ELB out-scored C-E 12-9 in the fourth quarter.
Kaylee Voelker led the Hawks with 19 points, three steals and two rebounds while Brynlee Landis had 17 points, three assists, two steals and two rebounds.
Tevan Erickson had 15 points, five rebounds, four steals and an assist for the Elks while Kylie Ramlo had eight points, 10 rebounds, two steals, two assists and a block. Sydney DeVries had five points and four rebounds.
C-E improved to 7-3 on the season and will take on Hills-Beaver Creek (Minn.) at the Dakota Valley Classic in Elkton on Saturday morning.
ELB fell to 5-3 on the season and will host Edgerton (Minn.) at the Dakota Valley Classic in Elkton on Saturday night.
James Valley Christian 61, Iroquois/Lake Preston 46
HURON The Sharks finished the 281 Conference tournament in fourth place after dropping the third place game to James Valley Christian on Thursday night.
The Vikings took a 17-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 31-23 advantage into halftime. JVC broke the game open by taking a 50-35 lead at the end of the third quarter before both teams played to an 11-11 tie in the fourth quarter.
Adison Moore had 13 points for the Sharks while Kera Dubro and Becca Bich had 11 points each. Hadlee Holt had seven points and Chenoa Harris had four points.
Kaylie Robinson had 22 points for the Vikings while Alexa Goertz had 14 points and Addison Bartholow had 13 points.
The Sharks fell to 7-5 with the loss and will host Castlewood on Jan. 26.
