BROOKINGS Catherine Maddock of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, will present her BFA thesis exhibition at South Dakota State University on Nov. 10-21.
Maddocks exhibition, Happiness is the Key, will include paintings, crotchet textiles, drawings and mixed media works. The exhibit shows how empathy is central to her process and design choices.
A senior studio art major specializing in art education, Maddock is the daughter of Kerry and Melvin Maddock of Redwood Falls. She is a 2022 graduate of Redwood Valley High School.
The public exhibition will be on view in the Ritz Gallery of Grove Hall at SDSU, located south of the University Student Union between Mathews and Brown residence halls. Admission is free. The Ritz Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed weekends and holidays). Parking is available in the student union parking lot.
A public reception for Maddock will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 19 in the gallery.
