WATERTOWN The Brookings boys tennis team began the Eastern South Dakota Conference Tournament in Watertown on Monday.
Four Bobcats won play-in games but no Brookings player advanced into the winners bracket. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
Zach Mueller won his play-in match to get into the flight one tournament. He defeated Pierres Lucas Hight 10-4 in the play-in match. He would then fall to Harrisburgs Alexander Rallis 10-1 in his next match.
Braylon Peters lost to Mitchells Luke Jerke 10-7 in his first match in the flight two tournament. Carson Kreie lost to Pierres Noah Lueking 10-9 in flight three play-in match.
Brodie McCarty defeated Pierres Brady Lowery 10-7 in the play-in match in flight four. He then lost to Harrisburgs Maverik Ragon 10-0. Andrew Hahn took down Pierres Levi Hight 10-6 in the play-in match of flight five but then lost to Harrisburgs Cooper Rott 10-2. Xavier St. Pierre beat Pierres Jacoby LaRoche 10-6 in the flight six play-in match but then lost 10-8 to Mitchells Sutton Thompson.
Mueller, Peters, McCarty, Hahn and St. Pierre will play elimination matches on Tuesday.
Peters and Kreie lost in the flight one doubles play-in match 10-0 to Matthew Thin and Maner Htoo. Mueller and McCarty defeated Pierres Lueking and William Southern 10-8 in the flight two play-in match but then lost to Harrisburgs Ragon and Robert Rallis 10-0. Hahn and St. Pierre fell to Watertowns Sam Karst and Dawson Hartman 10-3 in their first flight three match.
The teams of Mueller and McCarty and Hahn and St. Pierre will play elimination matches on Tuesday.
