Names released in deadly crash near Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA One person died and another was seriously injured Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash near Alexandria.

Preliminary crash information indicates Lois Kelli Watson, 68, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and the driver of a 2024 Chevy Silverado, was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 344. She drifted into the median, corrected her steering, then entered the north ditch where the vehicle rolled.

Watson died at the scene. Her adult passenger, Caroline Delia Nadeau, 62, of Oceanside, California, was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. A 4-year-old girl sustained minor injuries as well.

Seat belts were in use, according to information from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

TheSouth Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.All information released so far is only preliminary.
