Bobcat basketball teams each lose to Brandon Valley

The Brookings basketball teams each lost games to Brandon Valley on Friday night.

The Bobcat girls lost 58-26 and the boys fell 59-19.

There were no stats available for the boys game. The two teams will play a doubleheader in Mitchell on Friday night. The girls game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and the boys will follow.

Brandon Valley 58, Brookings 26

A tough first half for the Bobcats bled into a bad third quarter and that led to the large loss for Brookings.

Brookings trailed 19-5 after the first quarter and the Lynx then extended that lead to 39-13 at halftime. Brandon Valley then outscored Brookings 16-3 in the third and led 55-16 heading into the fourth. The Bobcats had a 10-3 advantage in the fourth but it was too little too late.

Brookings shot 22.5% from the field and was 2-for-14 from three. The Bobcats were led by Tess Burns who had 7 points and eight rebounds. Macy Even had five points and Sloan McLagan and Clara Delbridge each had four points.

Brandon Valley shot 42.9% from the field and was 7-of-20 from beyond the arc. The Lynx were led by Alyvia Padgett who had 11 points. Madison Geiver had 10 points and seven rebounds. Ava Kellenberger had nine points.

The Lynx had a 36-28 advantage in rebounds. Brookings had 23 turnovers, which the Lynx turned into 24 points. Brandon Valley had 11 turnovers. The Bobcats were 6-of-7 at the free throw line and the Lynx were 3-of-6.
