Letter to the Editor: Trump isn’t living up to his oaths

Considering the rhetoric and actions of President Trump, it’s hard to believe that he has the best interests of our nation in mind. He seems to be more interested in gaining power and having his name on structures than striving to make life better and more affordable for our citizens. Also, believing what Mr. Trump tells us is pretty much impossible.

A couple of instances are his promise of no war while he is president and his promise of more affordable living for our people. Mr. Trump is continually sounding more and more like the infamous dictator of some decades ago, Adolf Hitler, whose priority was to seek power and supremacy for himself.

It’s sad for our country that Mr. Trump has made inert puppets of so many Republican members of Congress, including South Dakota’s Sens. Thune and Rounds and Rep. Dusty Johnson. It’ also sad that President Trump wants to alter or do away with so much that has made our nation great, such as voting rights, in order to increase his insatiable greed for power. Although Mr. Trump no doubt wouldn’t agree, we are all in hands more powerful and more sacred than he. It seems that our nation has not enjoyed a peaceful day since President Trump was last inaugurated and took oaths he has not kept.
