Neal W. Harding, a devoted husband, father, and retired engineer, passed away peacefully in Mesa, Arizona, on April 28, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on October 1, 1941, to Stella and Donavon Harding, Neal grew up in the scenic town of Bay City, Wisconsin. He carried the values of his Midwestern upbringing throughout his life. Neal pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he laid the foundation for a successful career in engineering.
In 1963, Neal married the love of his life, Karen Prescher. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage, building a life centered on family and hard work. Neal dedicated 32 years of service to 3M, beginning his career in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1973, he transferred to the Medical Products Division in Brookings, South Dakota, where he worked until his retirement in 1993.
Neal was a man of many passions. From his youth in Wisconsin through his years in South Dakota, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and hiking. Many cherished memories were also made at the cabin on Lake Poinsett.
Upon retiring and eventually settling in Mesa, Arizona, Neal enjoyed cross-stitch projects, hiking, and golfing. He was an avid golfer and a sharp hand at the bridge table, always ready for a friendly game. He embraced his retirement years with the same dedication and enthusiasm he brought to every chapter of his life.
Neal is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; his daughter, Julie of Denton, Texas; his son, Jeff (Tammy) of Queen Creek, Arizona; and his sister, Alice (Mike) Celt of Bay City, Wisconsin. His legacy continues through his grandson, Tony (Anais) of Lewisville, TX, and his great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Donavon; his brothers, Quinton, Tony, and Jesse; and his granddaughter, Mandy.
