CHAMBERLAIN The Deubrook Area girls basketball team was able to hold off Kadoka Area on Thursday night and secured a spot in the Class B State Tournament with a 53-50 win.
The No. 10 seeded Dolphins led 13-11 at the end of the first quarter and then took a 24-23 lead into halftime. Deubrook outscored No. 7 seeded Kadoka 14-9 in the third and led 38-32 heading into the fourth. The Kougars had a 18-15 advantage in the final frame but that wasnt enough and the Dolphins punched their ticket to State.
Kylee Johnson led the way for Duebrook with 20 points. Matte Bauman had nine points. Peyton Trooien and Mataya Gouws each had seven points.
Bella Williams had a big night for the Kougars with 26 points. Brezzz Amiotte had 15 points.
The Dolphins (18-5) will be the No. 8 seed in the Class B State Tournament and will face top-seeded Centerville (23-0) in Huron on March 13. Deubrook and Centerville are scheduled to tip things off at noon.
