I am writing in support of Marcie Dierks to be a representative of the Brookings School Board. Having grown up in Brookings for the last 21 years, attending k-12 in the Brookings School District, and now serving as a substitute teacher in the District, I have seen our education system firsthand from several perspectives. Marcie Dierks was my former science teacher at Brookings Highschool and made a lasting impact on me as student.
Marcie Dierks consistently demonstrated her commitment to the growth of the Brookings Community by putting her students first. Her work with students always had the goal of helping students become passionate, supported, and capable. She provided constant encouragement that allowed me to succeed and get better as a student. Her ability to foster growth and confidence within a classroom allowed me to have future success in my academics as a college student. Marcie Dierks always had the best intentions of her students in mind in order to cultivate a classroom of growth and success.
I encourage everyone to vote for Marcie Dierks because our school board needs leaders who understand what classrooms are actually like along with understanding teachers and students’ needs firsthand. Her dedication to education and students makes her an excellent choice to represent our community on the school board.
