BROOKINGS The Mission of the Month at the Mission Coffeehouse at First Lutheran Church for October is Midwest Street Medicine.
Midwest Street Medicine is on a mission to close the gaps in health outcomes and mortality by providing low-barrier care that addresses peoples medical, behavioral, addiction and social needs through: peer support, medical care, social work, medication assistance, wound care and follow-up and addiction care and harm reduction. The multidisciplinary team is compromised of doctors, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, addiction specialists, social workers and peer support specialists.
The organizations mission is to improve the health of vulnerable populations, starting with those experiencing homelessness. Midwest Street Medicine now has teams in Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Aberdeen.
