VOLGA The Sioux Valley cross country teams hosted the Sioux Valley Invitational at Meadowcreek Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cossack girls finished in second place and the boys came in third. Sioux Valley will compete next on Monday at the Lake Central Conference Meet in De Smet.
Girls
The Cossacks had 31 points as a team. Maci Licht was the top finisher and she came in fourth with a time of 21:13.26. Amia Ward and Talya Vincent came in sixth (21:29.95) and seventh (21:38.01), respectively. Ava Gatzke finished in 16th (22:38.07) and Lillie Schmit came in 17th (22:42.94). Amya Ward rounded things out for the Cossacks, coming in 34th (27:23.72).
West Central won with 16 points. Clark Willow/Lake came in third (46), Madison came in fourth (66) and Deuel came in fifth (89).
West Central had the top two finishers in Brooklyn Sundermann (19:59.45) and Sarah Johnson (20:20.50). Clark/Willow Lakes Emma Bochek came in third (21:12.76) and West Centrals Sadie Wuebben came in fifth (21:19.20).
Boys
Sioux Valley had 41 points as a team. Carson Wosje led the way for the Cossacks and he came in third (17:20.41). Levi Axtell came in 13th (18:55.35) and Dubhlainn Vermeulen came in 17th (19:16.83). Jackson Hestermann came in 18th (19:18.41) and Bret Milton finished in 37th (21:18.43). Oliver Larsen came in 47th (23:18.75) and Corban Barclay came in 52nd (28:21.21).
Deuel came in first place with 25 points. Garretson came in second (30) and Madison finished in fourth (85). Great Plains Lutheran came in fifth (85).
West Centrals Peyton Tetzlaff won the individual race with a time of 16:45.59. Madisons Dylan Gerdes came in second (15:53.63) and Caden Hourigan finished in fourth (17:53.23), Carter Siemonsma came in fifth (17:59.40).
