Marge Inman

Marge (Wahl) Inman of Brookings, SD passed away on Aug, 31, 2025, at age 99.
Marjorie May (Marge) Kreiter was born in Spearfish, SD on March 15, 1926, to Will and Olive (Woodman) Kreiter and was the oldest of three daughters. Marge grew up in Aberdeen, SD where her parents operated the Star Motel and Tourist Camp. In high school she was active in band, playing the clarinet and organizing the sheet music.
She graduated from Aberdeen Central High in 1944, and a year later married Kermit E. Wahl of Columbia, SD. During the early years of their marriage, Marge was a housewife, a busy mother, and a traveler as she followed and supported Kermit in his professional baseball career.
One of their first baseball adventures was heading to Florida for spring training in their Spartan trailer. After the years in baseball were over, Marge kept making a home and raising her children, wherever Kermits career moves in South Dakota took them; from Groton, to Aberdeen, to Mitchell, and then to Madison. In 1975 it was a move west to Tucson, Az. Over the years, Marge also worked a variety of part-time jobs; from insurance agency receptionist, Methodist church secretary, census taker, income tax preparer to Avon sales rep. She cared for Kermit during his battle with cancer. When she was widowed in 1987, Marge returned to her passion for travel, she loved to check out historical markers and studied her atlas to plan the best route.
Eventually Marge reconnected with her childhood sweetheart Gordon (Ted) Inman. They were married in San Diego in February of 1990 and lived in Hemet, CA. However, they were happiest traveling in their fifth wheel to visit family and friends. After Teds passing, she returned to South Dakota in 2009 and settled into her cozy Volga, SD apartment that she loved.
Marge became a dedicated Jeopardy fan, loved to watch sports and read the Brookings Register and her devotions daily. She was still always up for another adventure, visiting family and attending their special events.
Marge spent many years sending birthday cards to her children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, friends and friends of her children. Her cards were intriguing as she sent cash (typically a mix of two-dollar bills and coin) that signified your age – according to Marge math.
Marge is survived by her children, Barbara (David) Kasperson of Brookings, SD; Bill (Kathy) of Tucson, Az.; Carol(Jess) Kary of Powell, Wy; Andy (Sheri) Wahl of Tucson, Az and Scott (Gail) Wahl of Watertown, SD; and her step-children Merry (Russell) Hilton of Winchester, Ca.; and Carol Inman of Gilbert., Az.; and her beloved extended family of Wahl and Inman grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kermit Wahl; granddaughter Christy Ronshaugen; daughter Nancy (Wahl) Ronshaugen; son-in-law Ron Ronshaugen; her sisters, Ruth Brickner; and Carol (Midge) Drake; brother-in law Pete Brickner; sister-in law Beverly Wallace; brother-in law Ward Wallace; brother-in law Ted Wahl; sister-in law Yvonne Wahl; and her husband Gordon (Ted) Inman.
