Miss South Dakota Competition
BROOKINGS – Evian Johnson, 18, was crowned Miss South Dakota’s Teen on Friday night.
For her talent, she performed a lyrical dance to “Speechless” from Aladdin. Her community service initiative is “Use Your Power,” advocating for those with dyslexia. She is from Brookings and plans to attend Lake Area Technical College and major in surgical technology. The title comes with a $3,500 scholarship. Johnson also tied for top private interview ($250) and won a STEM scholarship of $500. Her local title was Miss Siouxland’s Teen. Her parents are Matthew and Jackie Johnson.
First runner-up was Suri Uhl of Brookings. She received $1,200 in scholarships, and tied for the top interview award. Suri also won the People’s Choice scholarship, which was selected through online voting, for $250, and a Johnson Jackrabbit Scholarship, for young women planning on attending SDSU, for $1,250.

Second runner-up went to Jaye Olszewski of Sioux Falls, earning $900 in scholarships. She also received the Onstage Question award of $150, and the Community Service scholarship for $500.
Elaine Reiter of Rapid City tied for top interview and top talent. Nikki Wendt of Rapid City received a Johnson Jackrabbit Scholarship, for young women planning on attending South Dakota State University, for $1,250, and a STEM scholarship of $500. Abigail Oaks of Rapid City was chosen Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants, garnering a $500 award.
Johnson will represent South Dakota at the 2026 Miss America’s Teen Competition in September.
