Report: South Dakota State’s Nate White died of natural causes

BROOKINGS South Dakota State running back Nathaniel M. White, 20, died of natural causes, according to a Tuesday afternoon news release from the Brookings Police Department.

White, who hailed from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was found dead in a duplex in the 1000 block of Seventh Avenue South on June 25.

It has been determined that White died suddenly of a medical event that disrupted his breathing and heart functions, BPD Chief Michael Drake said. No criminality was involved in his death, as it is being ruled a natural, sudden death.

Per earlier reporting in the Brookings Register, White spent two seasons at Wisconsin before transferring to SDSU in January. The three-star recruit did not play a snap for the Badgers, but was expected to be the Jackrabbits starting running back this fall and had three years left of eligibility.
