Bombers White tops Sioux Falls East

BROOKINGS The Brookings Bombers White 13/14U team beat Sioux Falls East 15-9 on Sunday at Bob Shelden Field.

The Bombers led 15-4 through three innings and held off SF East in the fourth inning.

SF East scored two runs on the top of the first on a double. Brookings then responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning.

Beau Thompson walked with one out and Derek Jordan followed with a single. Thompson scored on a wild pitch and Hudson Vincent hit an RBI single to tie the game. Delton Brownell then hit an RBI triple and Lincoln Damm followed with an RBI single to make it 4-1. The final run of the inning for the Bombers came on an RBI single from Warner Carroll.

SF East scored a run on an error in the top of the second. Brookings then struck for seven runs in the bottom of the second.

Jaxson Neuharth was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and then scored on an error. Hayden Smidt and Thompson each scored on errors as well to make it 8-3. Lucas Kahler then hit an RBI double and would later score on a wild pitch to push the lead to 10-3. Brownell would then score on a wild pitch and Damm scored on an error to make it 12-3 heading into the third.

SF East scored a run on a single in the top of the third. Brookings scored three runs in the bottom of the inning. Smidt led off with a single and then scored on a Thompson double. Thompson would come home on a wild pitch and then Griffin Streich scored on an error to make it 15-4.

SF East made the final 15-7 after hitting an RBI single, a two-run single and scoring two runs on an error in the top of the fourth. The game ended after four innings due to time.

Brookings had nine hits in the win. Brownell was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Vincent and Smidt were each 1-for-3 with an RBI. Kahler, Thompson, Damm and Carroll were each 1-for-2 with an RBI. Jordan was 1-for-2.

Smidt pitched the first two innings for the Bombers. He gave up three runs, one earned, on one hit with two strikeouts and one walk. Brownell pitched an inning and gave up one unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts and one walk. Thompson pitched the final inning and gave up five runs, three earned, on three hits and had one strikeout and three walks.

Brookings is now 5-0 and plays at Dell Rapids on Tuesday.
