Thomas Reynolds to present senior recital on April 7

BROOKINGS Senior music education major Thomas Reynolds will present his senior voice recital at 7:30 p.m. April 7 in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Centers Founders Recital Hall.

Reynolds, a Brookings native, has been active in several ensembles while at SDSU, including the Concert Choir, Statesmen Mens Chorus, Opera Workshop, as well as The Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band, Jazz Ensembles and Comm-University Band. He is a student of associate professor Andrew Robinette.

Reynolds will be assisted by Melanie Timmerman on piano and Jonathan Bakken on cello, as well as SDSU faculty members Immanuel Abraham on violin, Michael Walsh on clarinet and David Reynolds on trumpet.

Highlights include a presentation of the famous aria, The Trumpet Shall Sound, from Handels Messiah, and the modern premiere of two arts songs by Johann Nepomuk Hummel. Reynolds first saw the manuscripts for these works in the British Library a few years ago. He and student Joey Daly, also from Brookings, transcribed them for the performance.

The recital is free, and the public is invited to attend.
