VOLGA The Sioux Valley girls basketball team took care of business on Friday night as the Cossacks blew out Dell Rapids 63-34 at the Cossack Center.
The Cossacks got out to a fast start as they led the Quarriers 23-6 at the end of the first quarter. Dell Rapids then put together a strong second quarter as the Quarriers outscored the Cossacks 16-5 in the second frame and cut the Sioux Valley lead to 28-22 at halftime.
The first quarter was similar to the third quarter though as Sioux Valley outscored Dell Rapids 23-8. The Cossacks then had a 12-8 advantage in the final quarter, making the final 63-34.
Sioux Valley shot 43.3% from the field and was 8-of-24 from three. Kailey Cradduck led the Cossacks with 22 points and seven rebounds. Talya Vincen had 13 points and four assists. Keyra Kruse had 12 points and seven rebounds. Liberty Trygstad had 11 points.
Dell Rapids shot 26.7% from the field and was 2-of-14 from three. Rorie Thoreson had 12 points to lead the Quarriers. Jersi Schultz had eight points.
The Cossacks had a 30-27 advantage in rebounds. Sioux Valley had 11 turnovers and Dell Rapids had 22. The Cossacks were 3-of-6 at the free throw line and the Quarriers were 8-of-10.
Sioux Valley is now 8-2 and plays at De Smet on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
