Bobcats, Cossacks compete in Watertown Invitational

WATERTOWN The Brookings and Sioux Valley boys golf teams competed in the Watertown Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

The Bobcats finished in 12th place as a team with a score of 337. Sioux Valley finished right behind the Bobcats in 13th with a score of 337.

Tournament host Watertown won the team portion of the tournament after shooting 293 as a team and the Arrows edged out Mitchell who had the same score. Pierre came in third (297), Harrisburg finished in fourth (300) and Brandon Valley rounded out the top five (306).

Rhys Heiberger was the top finisher for the Cats and he came in 54th after shooting an 83. Tysun Lunn and Mason Diers were right behind Heiberger in 55th and 56th place as they both shot an 83 as well. Issak Earley came in 62nd after shooting an 86.

Tate Steffensen led the Cossacks as he came in 20th after shooting a 76. Maverick Nelson came in 44th (81) and Damon Uecker finished in 69th (88). Nate Larson was the final varsity finisher for Sioux Valley and he came in 80th (92).

Harrisburgs Charlie Swift won the individual portion of the tournament as he shot a four-under par 68. Watertowns Kaden Rylance came in second (69) and Rapid City Stevens Cole Jansen finished in third (69). Aberdeen Roncallis Finn Anderson and Pierres Nick Bothun each shot a 71 to come in fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Bobcats will next hit the course on Monday and theyll compete in the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen. That meet is set to start at 10 a.m. Sioux Valleys next tournament will take place on Thursday in Sisseton at 10 a.m.
