RAPID CITY The Brookings Bullets lost their opening game of the 16U State Tournament to Mitchell on Thursday night.
It was a tough night for the Bullets as they fell 18-1. Theyll take on Rapid City Post 320 on Friday at 6 p.m. Central time and then will play Watertown on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Mitchell scored just two runs in the first two innings but then an 11-run third inning opened the game up and then a five-run fourth ended the game due to the 15-run rule.
Brookings lone run of the game came in the bottom of the third. Parker Nielsen hit a one-out single and then stole second. He made his way to third on a single from Connor Jones and then scored on a ground out from Sutton Schneider.
The Bullets had three hits in the loss. Jones was 2-for-2 and Nielsen was 1-for-2. Schneider had an RBI without a hit.
