Primary elections are important. Here in South Dakota, they might even be more important than our general elections. My name is Brian Lewis. Im a 23-year-old fresh college graduate. Ive served as secretary and president of the South Dakota State University College Republicans, as well as an intern in the state legislature and in Washington, D.C., for the Center for Renewing America, an advocacy organization led by Russell Vought, President Trumps former budget director.
Through my extensive experiences dealing with local, state, and national politics, I would like to think Ive developed a strong understanding of what it takes to be an effective leader, and of what it takes to put others before yourself. At every step of this campaign process, Volgas own Matt Wagner has proven to me that he is the thoughtful, dedicated conservative leader that we need to represent us in Pierre. Our wonderful State Representative John Mills has provided strong and valuable leadership in the peoples house for eight years now, and I am fully confident that Matt Wagner will continue all the important work that Representative Mills has done.
Over the course of this primary cycle, Matt Wagner has shown a level of humility, instinct and work ethic that makes him unique. I have seen many who seek to lead and seen far fewer that are ultimately worthy of leadership and I have never doubted Matts worthiness for a second. I write this letter and put my name behind him because I know who he is, and I know he is worthy of your vote. I know he will work hard on your behalf, and he will work hard to build a more perfect South Dakota and solve the problems that face District 8 and our state.
Theres no one I trust more to uphold our shared conservative values and fight to protect the unborn, protect our second amendment rights, fight against eminent domain abuse by out-of-state corporations and to snuff out the excesses of radical leftism than Matt Wagner. As the son of a law enforcement officer, I respect Tim Walburgs service to Madison and Lake County but in elections you vote for men because of their ideas and personal qualities, not because of their resumes.
So long as we are led forward by men like Matt, South Dakota will continue to serve as an example for every other state in the nation of what conservative leadership looks like. I call on those who remember our state motto, Under God the People Rule, to do your civic duty on June 4th and send Matt Wagner to Pierre to represent you.
