Bobcats in seventh place after first day of ESD Tournament

SIOUX FALLS The Brookings Bobcats are in seventh place as they traveled to the Huether Family Match Pointe for the first day of the ESD Boys Tennis Tournament on Monday morning.

The Bobcats have a team total of 12 points after the first day placing ahead of Pierre, who has 8.5 points and Huron, who has four points.

Yankton leads after the first day of the tournament with 177.5 points and Harrisburg is in second place with 155.5 team points. Watertown is third with 95 points, Brandon Valley is fourth with 92.5 points, Mitchell is fifth with 65.5 points and Aberdeen Central is sixth with 13.5 points.

Zach Mueller advanced in the fifth singles flight after defeating Mitchells Levi Loken 11-10 in the opening round. Mueller lost to Brandon Valleys Gavin Stone 10-8 in the semifinals and will face Watertowns Skyler Stanton for third place on Tuesday.

Braylon Peters lost both of his matches in the first flight, falling to Yanktons Zac Briggs 10-0 and losing to Mitchells Jager Juracek 8-6 in the consolation semifinals.

Stefan Nicolic lost in the play-in round 10-7 to Hurons Matthew Thin in the play-in match of the second flight.

Carson Kreie lost to Dawson Pederson of Aberdeen Central 10-1 in the play-in match of the third flight.

Xavier St. Pierre lost to Aberdeen Centrals Aric Tennant 10-7 in the play-in match of the fourth flight.

Andrew Hahn lost in the opening round to Yanktons Ethan Marsh 10-2 before losing to Harrisburgs Ozil Shama 8-3 in the consolation semifinals.
