BROOKINGS The theft of three snowmobiles and a trailer is being investigated by the Brookings Police Department.
The incident occurred in the 300 block of Railroad Street, where officers were dispatched at approximately 6:40 a.m. Monday, according to a Thursday news release from the BPD. The snowmobiles are valued at $12,000, while the trailer is valued at $8,000.
A blue Ford F-150 extended cab truck with a topper and a white stripe on the side was seen hooked up to the trailer and leaving the storage facility, per the release. The truck was reported to be possibly a late 1990s or early 2000s model.
If you have a trailer in storage, if possible, remove the hitch from the trailer or place a secure device on the wheels so it cannot be removed, BPD Lt. Joe Fishbaugher wrote in the release. Make sure all your items are secured, and that you maintain consistent checks on your property.
