Kay E. White- Brookings

Kay E. White, 82, passed away on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at her residence in Brookings, SD.
Memorial dervices will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, at Rudes Funeral Home in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1 to 2 p.m on Jan. 11, at Rudes Funeral Home in Brookings.
Kay Earlyne White was born on Sept. 2, 1941, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Kathryn (Riemann) White. She grew up in Beresford, SD where she attended and graduated from Beresford High School in 1959. Kay continued her education at South Dakota State University. She was united in marriage to Raymond Strom in 1960 in Beresford, SD. To this union, two children were born, Scott and Brad. After raising her children, she graduated from SDSU with a degree in Home Economics in 1978.
After gaining her degree, she tailored wedding dresses at Coles Dept. Store. Kay also worked as the Domestics Dept. Manager at White Mart until starting her 26-year career at Walmart, holding down various department manager titles. In her free time, Kay enjoyed gardening and sewing, they were a big part of her life. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church.
Kay is survived by her two sons, Scott Strom of Aurora, SD, and Brad (Stacey) Strom of Mitchell, SD; two grandchildren, Alec of Sioux Falls, SD and Logan of Mitchell, SD; two sisters, Nancy (Doug) Corwin of Beresford, SD and Carol (Pat) Ohara of Prior Lake, MN along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close, life-long friend, Marlys Reierson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Kathryn White and infant son Christopher.
