Three area girls basketball teams played over the weekend and Flandreau was the lone winner as the Fliers beat Dell Rapids. Colman-Egan and Deubrook Area dropped games.
Flandreau 66, Dell Rapids 26
The Fliers improved to 5-0 with the dominating victory over the Quarriers on Thursday night.
Flandreau led 26-7 at the end of the first quarter and took a 43-14 lead into halftime. The Fliers extended the lead to 55-21 at the end of the third before outsourcing the Quarriers 11-5 in the final quarter.
Flandreau shot 45.5% from the field and was 4-of-16 from three. The Fliers had three players score in double figures. Lily Klein led the way with 20 points and six steals. Claire Sheapprd and Lizzie Pavlis each had 16 points. Pavlis also had 12 rebounds.
Dell Rapids shot 31.4% from the field and was 4-of-12 from three. The Quarriers were led by Elly Olson who had 13 points.
The Fliers play at Castlewood on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Burke 50, Colman-Egan 47
Colman-Egan dropped to 5-3 on the season as the Hawks fell to Burke 50-47 in the Huron Holiday Classic on Friday.
Burke (5-2) led 12-10 at the end of the first quarter and took a 27-24 lead into halftime. Colman-Egan cut the lead to 39-38 at the end of the third quarter but Burke outscored the Hawks 11-9 in the final quarter.
Colman-Egan shot 37.5% from the field and was 6-of-25 from three. Brynlee Landis led the Hawks with 19 points and six rebounds. Jolie Flatten had 10 points.
Burke shot 39.6% from the field and was 4-of-11 from three. They were led by Kailee Frank who had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Cecily Geaghan had 13 points and four rebounds. Piper Hanson had nine points.
Colman-Egan plays at Oldham-Ramona/Rutland on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
Warner 56, Deubrook Area 51
The Dolphins fell to 3-4 with the loss to the Monarchs in the Huron Holiday Classic on Friday. Warner led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter. Both teams scored 12 points in the second quarter to give the Monarchs a 27-25 lead at halftime. Warner then extended its lead to 42-34 in the third quarter. Deubrook outscored Warner 17-14 in the final quarter but it was too little too late.
Deubrook shot 34.6% from the field and was 6-of-16 from three. The Dolphins were led by Kadence Bowne who had 16 points. Kylee Johnson had 13 points and Mataya Gouws had 11 points. The Monarchs shot 44.7% from the field and were 4-of-12 from three. They were led by Ava Nilsson and Lauren Marcuson who had 14 points. Marcuson also had 10 points. Stacia Carda and Kira Marcuson each had 10 points.
Deubrook plays at Sioux Valley on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
