Lyle Strande Volga

Lyle Sundet Strande, age 92, of Volga passed away on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at The Neighborhood at Brookview/Brookings Hospice Care in Brookings, SD.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Dec. 27, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
Lyle Sundet Strande was born in Volga, SD on Nov. 9, 1931. He was the son of Raymond and Evelyn (Sundet) Strande. Lyle grew up in Volga, SD attending Volga High School and South Dakota State University. He married his Kindergarten sweetheart Carol (Dahl) Strande in 1951 and moved to Covina, California with their 6 month old daughter in 1956. Lyle and Carol raised their 3 children in California, moving back to Volga, SD when Lyle retired in 2000.
Lyle was a Corporal in the Army, 3rd Infantry Division, during the Korean War. He was the owner of TEB Incorporated Aerospace manufacturing in Covina, California, where he was named Businessman of the Year 5 years in a row.
Upon his return to Volga, SD, Lyle served on the Brookings County Museum Board and First National Bank Board in Volga. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, American Institute of Aeronautics and the Society of the Third Infantry Division.
Lyle enjoyed golf, woodworking and gardening. For several years Lyle and his nephews, fondly referred to by Lyle as The Dahl Boys, made numerous wooden nativity scenes for the Lutheran church in Volga, SD.
Lyle was proceeded in death by his parents, Raymond and Evelyn Strande, his wife Carol (Dahl) Strande, his son Douglas Strande, his brother John Strande, sister Carol Roach and brother Richard Strande.
Lyle is survived by his daughter Paula Rae and (Kris) Strande of Volga, SD, son Brian Strande of South Dakota, granddaughter Hannah and (Casey) Maib of Napa, CA, grandson Christopher & (Kalli) Williams of Volga, SD, great-grandchildren Madeline and Miles Williams of Volga, SD. His honorary daughter Mo & (Jerry) Colwell, grandchildren Candace & (Alex) Canchola, Kenny & (Theresa) Colwell, Kevin Colwell; great-grandchildren Ava and Danny Canchola, Kendrick, Cecilia and Gerri Colwell; sister Darlene (Dolly) Oines, brother Lloyd Strande, brother Russell Strande, sister Camey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews of the Dahl and Strande families.
