BROOKINGS – Registration is underway for the 18th Beef and Eggs 5K, which is 8 a.m. on July 9.

HURON – The Brookings Swim Club competed in the Huron Invitational this last weekend and had four overall high point winners.

BROOKINGS – The second annual Cash Money Youth Skills Camp was held on a sunshine-filled Saturday at the Mickelson Middle School track and football complex. Over 550 youth in grades two through 12 participated in the two session event with the younger attendees having camp in the morning and the older campers having an afternoon session.

MARSHALL – The Brookings Post 74 American Legion Bandits finished 4-0 at the Marshall Wood Bat Tournament, claiming the tournament title.

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Bullets 16U team swept a doubleheader against Milbank on Saturday. The Bullets won game one, 9-7, and then took game two, 3-1.

SIOUX FALLS – The Brookings Junior Legion Chutes went 2-2 in the Sioux Falls Invitational over the weekend.

SIOUX FALLS – Tanner Christenson needed just 59 pitches to finish off a five inning no hitter as Flandreau Post 70 shutout Webster Post 40, 11-0, in the first game of a triangular at Augustana’s Ronken Field in Sioux Falls on Saturday.

BROOKINGS – Mitch and Kylie Brunick took home the title in the South Dakota Golf Association Husband/Wife Tournament on Sunday.

BROOKINGS – The Sioux Falls (formerly Harrisburg) Hops swatted five home runs on a rare wind-blowing-out summer game at Bob Shelden Field to defeat the Brookings Cubs 13-7 on Sunday night at Bob Shelden Field in Brookings.

BROOKINGS – The South Dakota Golf Association Husband/Wife Tournament is taking place at the Brookings Country Club this weekend.

HARRISBURG – Having lost their last five games the Brookings Bombers Black 14’s got back on the winning path Thursday night in Harrisburg, manhandling the host Tigers by scores of 28-0 and 30-4.

BALTIC – Flandreau Post 70 withstood five errors defensively to pick up an 8-3 win over Baltic Post 175 on Thursday night.

BROOKINGS – Calling all tennis players! The Brookings Tennis Club has begun its summer tennis leagues with the men playing on Mondays, women on Tuesdays, and more doubles on Wednesdays at Hillcrest Courts.

BROOKINGS – For the fifth time in six years, Tim Fryer, 43, of Hendricks, Minnesota, is champion of the Longest Day 10K, sponsored by Prairie Striders Running Club.

BALTIC – The Brookings Cubs improved to 9-2 on the season after defeating the Baltic River Dawgs, 9-7, in a back and forth affair on Wednesday night.

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Bombers Maroon 13U team swept a doubleheader against Harrisburg on Wednesday night. The Bombers took the first game, 9-6, and then won the second game, 13-6.

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Activities Department recently announced the hiring of two new coaches to lead Bobcat student-athletes into the future of their respective programs. Samantha Bush will take over the girls’ volleyball program while David Rohrbach transitions from Class B to AA and the head boys’ basketball coach.

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Bombers Black 14U team was swept in a doubleheader against Sioux Falls East on Tuesday night. The Bombers lost the first game that was a marathon, 20-12, and then fell in game two, 18-2.

BROOKINGS – Throughout his time coaching, South Dakota State University women’s soccer coach Brock Thompson has always looked to provide his team an edge. When Matt Vukovich, associate dean of research in SDSU’s College of Education and Human Sciences, approached him about an upcoming research study, Thompson eagerly accepted.

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Bombers Black 14U team went 2-3 over the weekend in the Cubby’s Classic.
