BROOKINGS — Sophomore forward William Kyle III announced on Monday morning that he will be entering the transfer portal.
The Bellevue, Nebraska, native played in every game for South Dakota State over the past two seasons and started 49 of them. He averaged 11.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and shot 59% from the field in his two years at SDSU.
Kyle saw his production increase in his sophomore season as he averaged 13.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks this year.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play the game I love at a level I didn’t envision possible a few years ago,” Kyle said in a post on X Monday morning. “I would also like to extend my gratitude to South Dakota State for the experiences and opportunities provided during my time as a student-athlete. The support from the coaching staff, my teammates and fans has been remarkable and has greatly contributed to my personal growth.
“However, after much consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. I will forever cherish the memories and friendships I’ve made at South Dakota State and will always be grateful for all the love and support received from the Jackrabbit community.”
Kyle will have two years of eligibility left.
