MAYETTA, Kan. — The South Dakota State women’s golf team finished in a tie for third place at the Summit League Championships Tuesday at Firekeeper Golf Course. SDSU’s Alex Kandolin and McKenzie Mages tied for 10th place to pace the squad.

The Jackrabbits finished in the top three for the eighth time in the last nine Summit League Championships. The squad’s 908 (+44) team score tied them with St. Thomas for third. The Jacks carded a 293 (+5) round on the final day, their best team score of the week. Denver ran away with its fifth-straight team title, firing a tournament-record 850 (-14). Oral Roberts was second with an 892 (+28).

Kandolin and Mages posted matching 225 (+9) three-round scorecards. This is the best Championships finish of Mages’ career as the sophomore finished t-15th as a freshman last season. Kandolin records the second top-10 Summit League finish of her career as she was the championship runner-up last season.

Piper Stubbs finished in a tie for 11th place and just one shot behind Mages and Kandolin (226, +10). Her even-par 72 Tuesday was her best of the tournament, moving her up four spots on the leaderboard from Monday’s finish.

Shakira-Ann Kuys posted her best round of the week Tuesday, a 74 (+2), to move her into a tie for 26th place (236, +20). Reese Jansa finished in 36th place (243, +27).

Denver’s Clara Gestsdottir went 6-under on her final round to win medalist honors (210, -6). Emma Bryan, also from Denver, was runner up at -5.
