BROOKINGS — The Brookings Bobcats took home a first-place finish in two different events as they hosted a quadrangular with Sioux Falls Lincoln, Harrisburg and Aberdeen Central at the Brookings Athletic Complex on Monday afternoon.

Logan Smidt picked up the first-place finish in an individual event, winning the girls javelin throw at 121-07.

The boys 1600 meter short medley relay team of Gavin Anderson, Owen Hoppe, Elie Wongondombi and Ernest Ting also finished in first place with a time of 3:49.95.

The Bobcats will return to action when they compete in an invitational at Yankton on Apr. 25.

Boys

The boys 4x400 meter relay team of Jon Kahler, Nathan Smith, Owen Hoppe and Ashton Baker finished in second place with a time of 3:38.01.

Ernest Ting finished second in the boys 1600 meter run with a time of 4:38.44.

Cole Hockett finished third with a time of 54.80 seconds in the 400-meter run.

Kahler finished in fourth place in the boys 1600 meter run with a time of 4:41.18.

The boys 4x800 meter relay team of Weston Baker, Marco Springman, Jackson Bastemeyer and Miles Even also finished in fourth place with a time of 9:49.25.

The Bobcats also had a pair of fifth-place finishes as Smith finished with a time of 2:06.72 in the 800 meter run and the team of LaVonte Carter, Jack Griggs, Gavin Anderson and Charlie Bisgaard finished fifth in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 45.79 seconds.

Girls

Lily Murray finished third in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:05.29. Quinn Ulvestad finished in fourth place with a time of 1:07.24.

The Bobcats had a pair of top-five finishes in the girls 4x200 meter relay. Amari Ward, Ava Petterson, Kennedy Ronning and Quinn Ulvestad finished fourth with a time of 1:54.77 and the team of Nevaeh Strohfus, Kennedy Nemitz, Nayree Munoz and Cadence Dauer finished fifth with a time of 1:59.94.

The team of Alaina Evans, Ronning, Elise Lefers and Amari Ward finished in fourth place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 52.98 seconds.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Ulvestad, Petterson, Munoz and Dauer also finished in fourth place with a time of 4:33.15.
