BROOKINGS – The state on Wednesday reported 971 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths in South Dakota in the past week. Thirty of the new cases and one death have been reported in Brookings County.

BROOKINGS – South Dakota State University’s Wintrode Student Success and Opportunity Center has been awarded certification as a certified tutor training program at Levels I, II and III by the College Reading and Learning Association. SDSU has been certified at all levels since 2008.

BROOKINGS – South Dakota State University College of Education and Human Sciences Dean Paul Barnes announced recently Anne Karabon has accepted the position of director of the School of Education, Counseling and Human Development.

BROOKINGS – Paul O. Johnson, SDSU Extension weed science coordinator and Northeast Research Farm coordinator, is retiring after a dedicated 33-year career supporting the people of South Dakota in his role at SDSU Extension.
