BROOKINGS – Youth Program Chair for the VFW Brooking Auxiliary Jan Olson presented two books for the library at the Camelot School in Brookings. The books were presented to Camelot’s librarian, Deb Brockberg.
The books presented were “The Planet Earth is Blue” by Nicole Panteleakos and “I Survived the American Revolution” from the “I Survived” Book Series.
The Patriotism Through Literacy program, sponsored by the National VFW Auxiliary, aims to promote history and other interesting facts for students of all ages. The purpose of the program is to expand the knowledge and increase curiosity of the nation’s history and background. The program is designed to include books for kindergarten through third grade, fourth, fifth and sixth grades, middle school and also at the high school level. The George Dokken VFW Auxiliary hopes to present recommended literacy books at all levels.
