Tour of Homes set for Dec. 2

BROOKINGS – Four homes will be featured on this year’s FCCLA Tour of Homes, set for 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.  Tickets are $12 apiece and will be available at HyVee and First Bank & Trust starting Monday and at the Brookings High School Commons the day of the event.

Located at 2020 Freedom St. stands one of the Brookings homes on the tour.

The two-story brick home was built in 1999, and in 2012 was bought by its current owners, Sheldon and Robyn Rasmussen. After buying this home, the Rasmussens renovated and re-landscaped, creating the perfect home for their family.

The home has six bedrooms and four bathrooms. One unique feature is the two full kitchens, one on the main level and another on the lower level. Outside, the Rasmussens’ home has a large patio, fireplace and grill, a great place for entertaining and relaxing during the summer months.

The house across the street from the Rasmussens’ will also be featured on the tour.

New this year to the Tour of Homes will be the Bobcat Bistro, run by Brookings ProStart Capstone students. They will offer coffee and pastries in the BHS Commons starting at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 2.

The Freshmen FCCLA Chapter will also provide childcare for children ages 2-10 during the tour, also at the high school commons. Childcare is open to anyone who has purchased a ticket to go on the tour, and the cost is a freewill offering. Children will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as crafts, games, and a holiday movie. More information about this will be made available soon.
