Sharon L. Minick was born on March 21, 1949, to Rex and Lois Minick, in Sioux Falls, SD. She lived in various places in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota while her adoptive dad, Al Headley (who later married Lois), worked on dredging projects on the Great Lakes. Sharon graduated from East High School in Duluth, MN, in 1967.
Sharon married Dave Johnson on Sept. 7, 1968, shortly before he left for Vietnam. Sharon worked in retail, as a nursing assistant and after having children was at home to help Dave and the kids through their years of school and work. She always enjoyed being around her kids and grandkids.
Sharon enjoyed her winters with Dave at their home in Bullhead City, AZ, where for years they enjoyed eating out, dancing, and the nightlife across the Colorado River in Laughlin, NV, before health issues curtailed her dancing time. She still loved to get out and appreciated the warmer weather of Arizona compared to the South Dakota winters. She enjoyed Sudoku, Word Find, and watching the MN Twins baseball during the summer months.
She was active in church functions and in the Brookings Hospital and Nursing Homes Auxiliary during the years of Dave’s employment there.
Sharon was preceded in death by her biological father, Rex Minick; mother, Lois Headley and adoptive father, Al Headley; brother, Lon Headley and numerous cousins.
Survivors include her husband, Dave; daughter, Laura and her husband Hart Nordbye Jr. of Castlewood, SD; son Bruce and his wife Carmen of Aurora, SD; grandchildren, Kyle (Kenzie), Conner (Erin), Kali (Colton), Jorgen, Kjersten and great granddaughters, Ellie and Emsleigh.
Condolences may be sent to the family through www.rudesfuneralhome.com.
