SIOUX FALLS – The South Dakota State swimming and diving program took home all four of this week’s Summit League weekly awards after the team’s first home meet in over a year.
Spencer Fritze was named Men’s Diver of the Week for the second time this season after tallying 255.35 points on the 1-meter board and 241.05 on the 3-meter. On the women’s side, senior Quincee Simonson took home her first career-honor by leading all divers on the 1-meter board with a score of 251.85 and finished runner-up on the 3-meter board with 232.73 points.
Between the lane lines, freshman Emma Walz captured four first place finishes. The Omaha, Neb. native swam the opening backstroke leg of the 200 medley relay that won in a time of 1:48.34. She touched first in the 50 free in a time of 24.77, the 200 back with a mark of 2:07.18 and swam the opening leg of the 200 free relay, winning with a 1:39.40 clocking and a 25.06 split.
Alex Kraft picked up three top finishes in the 200 free (1:46.35), the 500 free (4:56.06) and as the lead swimmer of the 200 free relay that touched first in a time of 1:27.60. Kraft also finished second in the 50 free with a 21.93 clocking.
The Jackrabbit men would pass the Iowa Central Community College Tridents, 155-107. The women would win 199-50.
The women will face Omaha at home on March 6. NCAA Zone Diving Championships are scheduled for the following day in Lexington, Ken.
