Rangers, Lakers play to 2-2 tie in Watertown

WATERTOWN – The Rangers and Lakers played to a 2-2 draw in a South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association girls’ game Saturday night at Maas Arena.

Kiran Vugteveen scored the equalizer on an assist from Mckenna Geraets with 3:43 remaining in regulation.

Watertown struck first on Jaclyn Lloyd’s goal 5 1/2 minutes into the second period. Jayda Kranz assisted.

Vugteveen’s first goal came 6 minutes later.

Janel Lloyd found the back of the net late in the second to put the Lakers up 2-1, as Jaclyn Lloyd and Kranz were credited with assists.

The Rangers’ Jadyn Runge was solid between the pipes, making 34 saves.

The Lakers’ Emma Foisel stopped 20 shots.

Brookings (9-4-1) closes the regular season hosting Yankton on Saturday at 3 p.m. and then heading to Aberdeen on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
