Doris Ann Claffey, 97, of Le Center, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father James Adams officiating with visitation one hour prior at church. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny.
Doris was born on July 28, 1921, in Fargo, North Dakota, to George and Lucy (Kockelman) Loftus. Doris attended St. Canice Catholic School in Kilkenny, graduated from Montgomery High School in 1939 and also attended Mankato Business School. Doris was united in marriage to Gene Claffey in 1945 at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny. Doris worked for Central Telephone Company in Montgomery and Le Center for 15 years. Doris enjoyed crosswords and playing cards she was also a former grand marshal of St. Patrick’s Day.
Doris is survived by her children, Carol (Norm) Linnell of Hudson, WI, Linda (George) Martin of Colorado Springs, CO, Mary (Tom) Bezdichek of Brookings and Joyce (Bill) Bezdichek of Estero, FL.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Claffey in 2015; her parents; brother, Francis Loftus; and grandson, Brian Bezdichek.
