BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State University concert band and percussion ensemble will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. March 2 in the Larson Memorial Concert Hall of the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the SDSU campus.
The concert bands are under the direction of Kevin Kessler. Jacob Wallace will be guest conductor for the concert, which will present a variety of pieces. Works by Emma Lou Diemer, Henry Fillmore, Julie Giroux, Karl King, John Mackey, Sean O’Laughlin and Nicole Piunno will be performed.
Under the direction of Aaron Ragsdale, the percussion ensemble will perform three selections that each represent different styles of music making. The styles include an ensemble of handheld shakers, a keyboard percussion-driven composition and one following a traditional style of drumming familiar to marching.
Seating for all performance activities at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center is limited due to the COVID-19 protocols. The concert will be livestreamed for viewing by the public using the Facebook Live platform. For a link to the concert, visit the OLPAC website, https://sdstate.edu/performing-arts-center.
