PHOENIX - The South Dakota State men’s golf team played the first 36 holes of the GCU Invitational Monday at the GCU Championship Golf Course.
The Jacks are in a tie for 12th place in the team standings with one round remaining. The team is led by Ty Kretz, who is tied for 19th with an even-par 142.
Kretz posted matching 71 (E) scores on the first two trips around the course. He collected nine birdies through 36 holes.
Matthew Schaefer is tied for 38th place (145, +3). The senior went 4-under in the first round with five birdies, followed by a 78 (+7) round two.
Jonah Dohrer is next for the SDSU squad. He is tied for 60th place (149, +7). Dohrer recorded an even-par 71 on the second round.
Noah Boraas is tied for 82nd place (154, +12) and Blake Schaper is in 88th place (159, +17).
No. 29 TCU is 18-under as a team and tops the team standings. North Dakota State is two shots behind in second place. The Bison’s Nate Adams is in first place at 10-under.
The final round of the tournament will be played Tuesday morning. It is set to tee off at 8 a.m MT.
