BROOKINGS – South Dakota State cornerback Malik Lofton has been arrested for two counts of second-degree petty theft according to the Brookings County State’s Attorney’s office.

BROOKINGS – South Dakota State cornerback Malik Lofton has been arrested for two counts of second-degree petty theft according to the Brookings County State’s Attorney’s office.

Lofton, a senior from Minneapolis, has appeared in all 12 games this season. He has 18 tackles and an interception and is a key member of an SDSU defense that ranks No. 2 in the FCS in total defense this year.

Lofton’s first court date is set for Jan. 23. Displinary action from SDSU is pending.

SDSU is in the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs and will be hosting Holy Cross on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Jackrabbits are 11-1 on the season and are the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
