ABERDEEN – Jacob Prouty followed up a 37-point outing with 35 points in the final as Clark/Willow Lake finally got its title, beating De Smet 49-41 in the Class B State Boys’ Basketball Tournament final Saturday night at the Barnett Center.
Clark was second in both 2004 and 2006 at the Class A level, while Willow Lake was the 1960 B runner-up. As a co-op, CWL fell 58-55 to Sully Buttes in the B final a year ago.
Prouty went 14-of-24 from the field, hitting 3-of-8 treys, and 4-of-7 at the foul line.
Stone Burke posted a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.
CWL led 17-9 after a quarter, 27-17 at halftime and 41-29 through three.
The Bulldogs’ Kalen Garry had 14 points and Ethan McCune 12.
The third-seeded Cyclones finished the season 23-2. No. 5 De Smet ended up 23-3.
• Bridgewater-Emery 65, Viborg/Hurley 54
The Huskies trailed by three after a quarter but led 34-31 at halftime and 48-41 heading to the fourth.
Carter Dye (19 points-10 rebounds) and Sawyer Schultz (12-15) both posted double-doubles. Jamin Arend scored 20 points.
The Cougars got 20 points from Chase Mason and 12 points to go with nine boards by Gradee Sherman.
• White River 74, Sully Buttes 68
The top-seeded Tigers edged the defending-champion Chargers to place fifth.
White River was up 16-15 after a quarter; Sully Buttes led 35-34 at the break; and White River moved back on top 51-50 at the end of three.
The Tigers’ Tyson Iyotte scored 28 points, Teron Sazue 15 and Luke Wells 13.
The Chargers’ Cameron Ogle had 20 points and 15 rebounds. Jett Lamb added 18 points and nine boards. Nick Wittler dropped in 11 markers and Grant Johnson had 10 boards.
• Jones County 60, Timber Lake 49
The Coyotes were on top 23-12 after a quarter, 32-24 at halftime and 42-37 through three.
Alec Whitney notched a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Austin Olson added 16 points and Morgan Feddersen 14.
The Panthers’ Tucker Kraft had 16 markers, Brayden PayPay 13 and Isaac Kraft 10.
