BROOKINGS – The Boys & Girls Club of Brookings has welcomed some familiar faces in new roles as part of the Clubhouse Preschool/Early Childhood Education (ECE) team.
Angi Strohfus has been part of the Clubhouse team since 2018 but in October 2020, she stepped into a new role as the ECE Director, which oversees all Boys & Girls Club Clubhouse preschool, junior kindergarten, and afterschool continued education programs. Continued Education Director Morgan Wills also joined the full-time Clubhouse staff in January 2021, after working in a part-time Clubhouse role while majoring in early childhood and special education at SDSU.
Though new faces fill leadership roles, the goals of the Clubhouse remain the same. Through half-day, full-day, and afterschool programs, they continue to focus on providing quality education and unique learning experiences for youth ages 3-7.
“My goal is to create programs that allow each child to grow and learn in a safe, fun, and hands-on environment,” Strohfus said. Willis agreed and added, “Specifically within our afterschool Continued Education programs, after being in class all day, learning taking place in the Clubhouse should be centered around hands-on activities that feel like play.”
Expanding the Clubhouse team has also meant expanding the goals of program reach. For this reason, the Clubhouse will be hosting three tour nights this spring, open to any guardians interested in having their child participate in Clubhouse full-day summer or 2021 fall programs.
“Environment plays a major role in the success of early childhood education. I am looking forward to hosting our tour nights and giving families in our community the opportunity to see what we have to offer their childen,” Strohfus said.
Clubhouse tour dates are currently scheduled for Feb. 22 from 6 to 7 p.m., March 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and April 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
