BROOKINGS – South Dakota State's Seth Gross, shown here during his 16-0 (5:00) technical fall against Iowa State’s Nathan Boston on Nov. 4 in Brookings, was honored Monday as Big 12 Conference Wrestler of the Week.
The seventh-ranked wrestler at 133 pounds, Gross defeated second-ranked Kaid Brock of Oklahoma State 6-4 in dual action on Sunday.
A sophomore from Apple Valley, Minn., and returning NCAA qualifier, Gross has posted a 19-1 record so far this season, including a 9-0 mark in duals. He’s earned bonus points in 17 of his 19 wins – seven pins, six technical falls and four major decisions.
Gross is the third Jackrabbit to be named Big 12 Conference Wrestler of the Week this season, as David Kocer (174 pounds) received the award Nov. 7 and Luke Zilverberg (165 pounds) on Jan. 9.
SDSU returns to action Saturday with a pair of duals at Edwardsville, Ill. The Jackrabbits are scheduled to wrestle host SIUE at 2:30 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. matchup with Gardner-Webb.
