Dean Curtis Krogmann, aged 89, passed away on Sept. 26, 2024, in Estelline, SD.
Born on Sept. 6, 1935, to Peter and Dorothy (Rang) Krogmann. He married Leona (Babe) Selland on Nov. 28, 1954. To this union two sons, Wayne and Randy, were born.
Dean grew up attending rural Elkton Schools. He worked as a farm hand alongside his parents and grandparents, later working for Bob Collins and at Badger Lumber Yard. He concluded his career farming and raising beef cattle, a testament to his dedication and hard work.A man of faith, Dean was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD, and Badger Lutheran Church in Badger, SD. His commitment to his community was evident through his active participation in church activities.
Dean served his family and community with the same enthusiasm he had for life. He was known for his outgoing and jovial nature, always ready with a teasing joke, deeply valuing his relationships with family and friends.
An avid sports enthusiast, Dean enjoyed softball, golf, playing cards, and pool, sharing many joyful moments with friends and family through these activities. His legacy of laughter and love for his family and friends will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Krogmann, and sons, Wayne Krogmann and Randy Krogmann (Brenda Santema/Ferguson), sister, Donna Houselog, sister, Lavonne Mengenhauser, sister-in-law, Clarice Elverud, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Dorothy Krogmann; in-laws, Herman and Clara Selland; a brother, Clifford Krogmann in infancy, a brother, Darrell Krogmann and a sister, Dola Wulf.
Visitation will be held on Oct. 3, 2024, from 5 – 7 pm at Rudes Funeral Home in Brookings, SD. A funeral service is scheduled for Oct. 4, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Rudes Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or a charity of your choice in memory of Dean.
