BOULDER CITY, Nev. The South Dakota State womens golf team is in second place following the opening two rounds of the Jackrabbit Invite, which were played Monday at Boulder Creek Golf Club. SDSUs Shakira-Ann Kuys and Piper Stubbs are tied for second place.
Kuys and Stubbs tallied matching 141 (-3) scorecards during Mondays 36 holes. Kuys was even-par on her first lap, then fired a 3-under 69 on round two. She had eight birdies on the day. Stubbs tallied a 71 (-1) in round one and a 70 (-2) in round two with nine total birdies.
Reese Jansa and McKenzie Mages are seven shots behind their leaders. They are tied for 19th place with 148 (+4) tallies. Jansa recorded eight holes under par, including an eagle on hole two during her second round.
Alex Kandolin rounds out the Jackrabbit lineup. She is tied with teammate Tatum Depuydt, who is competing individually, in 37th place (152, +8). Molly OHara, also competing individually, is in a tie for 31st place (151, +7).
Grand Canyons Carly Strole leads the field at 6-under. As a team, SDSU finished Monday with a 577 (+1) team score. Grand Canyon is in first place with a 7-under 569.
The teams return to the course Tuesday for the final 18 holes.
