Bobcats sweep Rough Riders

SIOUX FALLS The Brookings volleyball team got back in the win column on Tuesday night as the Bobcats swept Sioux Falls Roosevelt on the road.

We hit really well tonight and got a lot of players involved in our offense, said Brookings head coach Erinn Thomas. Our balance and energy made a big difference, and everyone contributed to the win.

The victory snapped a nine-match losing streak for the Bobcats. They won by scores of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-18.

It felt great to get back in the win column, and Im proud of how our team responded, Thomas said. Im also proud of our sub-varsity teams for all earning sweeps tonight too. It was a full-program effort and a really positive night for Bobcat Volleyball.

Brookings had 30 kills and 36 digs as a team. Macy Even had 11 kills and nine digs to lead the Cats. Avery Dentlinger had seven kills and Mia Mahlke had three kills. Taylee Connot had 11 digs and Cora Eidem had five digs. Kamryn Streich had 21 assists, seven digs and four kills.

The Bobcats improved to 7-17 on the season and theyll play in a tournament at Brandon Valley this weekend. Brookings will take on Rapid City Central, Sturgis Brown and Douglas on Friday and then will play Rapid City Stevens and Spearfish on Saturday. Thomas said she wants her team to build off this as they head into the weekend and the final week of the regular season.

We can keep building our confidence and communication heading into the weekend, which gives us a lot of matches and a great opportunity to keep growing, finding our rhythm, and playing with consistency as the regular season winds down.
